Family Day

Well Ontario finally figured out that families are important. Today, Monday February 18th is the first ever "Family Day". I, however, had to work. The university doesn't seem to understand the meaning of family day or else they would have lessened the load for my dear husband. Despite drowning under projects and assignments, Jon came home at 500pm today to start our first "official" Family Home Evening!

A quick song and prayer and lesson over supper was all we could manage but it is a start. We are trying to start these habits now before we have children so when our lives become busier with our future zoo then we will be prepared. Yesterday we had family scripture study in the bathroom before church because I had an early morning meeting and it takes us about 30 minutes to get to the chapel. They are not earth shattering changes but they are changes. It reminds me of the analogy of the rail road...all it takes is a piece of steel moved 3 or 4 inches at a switch point and a luggage car can end up on the other side of the country. I believe that is true with our lives. All it takes are little, consistent changes in the right direction and you will find
yourself closer to the Lord.

I think President Hinckley said it best ,"Most of these decisions seem small at the time we make them, but their eventual outcome can be almost overwhelming."
